The human behind the screen

I'm a 23 years old computer science student with a deep passion for computers, astronomy, and history. This blog serves as a platform to showcase personal projects and offer insights on my beloved topics. Often, when faced with challenging questions, I find answers in other people's blog posts. Inspired by this spirit of sharing knowledge, I aim to contribute to the vast amount of knowledge there is to find on the internet, hoping to assist curious minds in their quest for learning.

My history with computers

While you hear about many passionate computer geeks starting their interests at a young age I did not get into computers until the age of 18. Computers always had that magic to me where it was like a black box that could be used to play video games and surf the web. While I tried to learn Ruby at 15 I quickly gave up since I felt it was way to difficult for me. It wasn't until college where I did a studies to become a system administrator that I fell in love with computers. It started with an introductory course where I had to install Ubuntu 18.04 on a virtual machine and the moment I figured out that I could operate the OS from a text-based terminal I was hooked. It made me feel a true wizard being able to instruct the OS with just text and soon I was spending countless of hours in my own time learning more about Ubuntu and Linux as a whole. I wanted to find out how computers really worked and turn the magical boxes into something I could understand and master. Ubuntu gave me an operating system that let me see under the hood and it was a small step from issuing commands to writing my own in Python. In 2021 I graduated college and went on to university for a study in computer science and even though the magic of computers has been replaced by understanding not a day goes by where I am not learning new concepts, tricks or bits and bytes of information.

Tech I Love

I am a tinkerer and I really like it when an operating or a technology stack gives me the freedom to create and build whatever I like. At the same time I also love simplicity and style. A solution should not be more complicated than it needs to be and in my opinion code not only works but is also easy to read, well documented and extendable.
